Workpieces of various materials, shapes and sizes need to be drilled and tapped. Different workpieces have different shapes and locations, so different clamping and alignment methods should be adopted according to the shape and location of the workpiece before drilling power head. So there are many clamping methods for drilling workpieces.
- If we want to drill rows of holes on larger workpieces, we will fix the workpieces directly on the worktable and clamp the workpieces with pressure plate bolts. The clamping position should be reasonable and symmetrical. In order to prevent drilling damage to the worktable, the drilling position can be placed in the T-groove position of the worktable. If the diameter of the hole is larger than the width of the straight groove, a parallel pad should be inserted between the workpiece and the worktable.
- If you want to drill holes on the workpiece, then clamp the workpiece on the indexing head or rotary table. For example, rectangular workpiece can be clamped by four-claw single-action chuck, and then clamped on the rotary table. The whole table can be clamped on the milling machine for processing. After processing a hole, you can turn an equal angle and drill the next hole. Note: The diameter and size of the distribution circle of holes should be pre-marked to indicate the location of the holes.
- If we want to drill through holes on smaller rectangular workpieces, we can use machine tool flat-jaw vise to clamp workpieces, and put parallel pads between workpieces and machine-used flat-jaw vise guide positioning surface. Pay attention to the equal height of parallel pads.
- If the radial hole is to be drilled on the cylindrical surface of the shaft parts, then the workpiece is clamped in the V-groove of the V-shaped block. The longer workpiece adopts V-shaped block with equal height. The installation of pressing plate and bolt should be reasonable. The clamping point of pressing plate should be located in V-shaped groove. When clamping the workpiece, attention should be paid to the contact positioning between the V-shaped groove surface of two V-shaped blocks and the circumference of the workpiece. The clamping operation should make the two pressing plates clamp step by step.
In addition to the above common workpiece drilling, there are some more complex machine tool drilling, such as inclined face drilling, plane semi-circular hole drilling and seam riding hole drilling. Drilling power head drilling these workpieces can also learn from the above clamping method or determine the clamping method according to the actual situation of the workpiece.
